Welcome to Cedar Shade Farm! Here we raise purebred, ADGA-registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats, as well as many ornamental, rare and heritage breeds of poultry, mainly bantams. Our goal with our herd is to improve the Nigerian Dwarf breed. We participate in ADGA-Shows, Milk Test, and when available, Linear Appraisal. In order to improve the breed, we pay close attention to the ADGA scorecard and other available tools to consistently produce animals with longevity - to produce lots of milk over a long period of time while maintaining their health and a good quality of life well past their productive years. We offer driveway breeding to goats with proof of negative CAE, CL, Johnes & Brucellosis testing.
As for our poultry, we breed out birds to the APA/ABA standards of perfection, with their health in mind. Currently, we raise a variety of bantam and large fowl breeds.
The bantams we raise are: Blue, Black, Splash, Partridge, & Silver Partridge Silkies, Blue, Black & Splash Naked Neck Silkies, Mille Fleur & Porcelain D'Uccles, White, Black, Mottled and eventually Self Blue (Lavender) Barbu D'Watermaals, Birchen & Silver Blue Modern Game Bantams, White Crested Black Bantam Polish, Traditional Seramas, and Blue & Black Sumatras.
We raise large fowl Blue, Black & Black Andalusians, Golden Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhaubens, and Non-Standard-Variety Turkens.
Our farm is located in Corbin City, NJ. We do ship eggs, but at this time we do not ship live birds. We do not ship goats. All live birds or goats must be picked up at our farm or at an arranged meeting point. Throughout the spring, summer and fall we attend as many goat shows as we can and usually have space to bring a chicken or two if needed.
Our entire goat herd last tested negative for Brucellosis, Johne's, CAE, and CL in May of 2022. We last tested for Q-Fever in Summer of 2021 and the entire herd was negative. Our herd has always tested negative for these diseases. We test for Brucellosis, Johnes, CAE and CL annually. We do not test for Q-Fever as often because our state lab does not offer that test.
Our chickens and ducks are tested every six months for Pullorum Typhoid & Avian Influenza. Our birds have always tested negative for both diseases.
